Here at the school the students love to texture metal with the rolling mill. I keep a large sheet of water colour paper and cut sections off a little larger than the metal we are texturing. We then make a sandwich - texture plate - sterling silver - watercolour paper - and then pass the sandwich through the rollers and we get a beautifully deep pressing. The paper acts in two ways it adds texture to the back of the silver and helps push the silver into the steel texture plate also. #rollingmill

Here is another tip on creating your own texture plates to use in the rolling mill. I like to create my own texture designs so I have experimented with a lot of different ways. . If you use stamps on your metal plate and then roll it through with another sheet you will get a nice raised design. You can also solder on pieces of metal onto sheet to create a unique design.. I used 14g brass sheet and 20 g copper to create these homemade texture plates😀 Have fun creating! #ljbjewelry #jewelrymaking
